Forever in Our Hearts

Dear San Patricio Community,

The Day of the Dead is one of those traditions that truly touches the heart. It invites us to remember with affection those we love, to celebrate their lives, and to keep them present through memory. It’s a deeply Mexican custom that teaches us to look at absence with love instead of sadness.

This year, at San Patricio International School Campus Cumbres, our altar was dedicated to the pets that have crossed the rainbow bridge — those loyal companions who filled our days with joy, play, and unconditional love. Honoring them was our way of thanking them for everything they gave us: the laughter, the mischief, and the many lessons about affection and loyalty.

Throughout the day, students shared stories and photographs of their pets, creating a space filled with tenderness and empathy. Some spoke proudly about their dogs and cats, while others fondly remembered hamsters, rabbits, or birds that left an everlasting mark on their families.

Meanwhile, our high school students created their own altar, dedicated to their loved ones who have passed away. Each photograph placed on the altar represented a story, a bond, and a special way of keeping the memory of those who have been an important part of their lives alive.

At San Patricio International School, we believe that love and connection don’t end with goodbyes. Through these traditions, we teach our students the value of memory, respect for all living beings, and the importance of gratitude for every shared moment.

Siempre en nuestros corazones

Querida comunidad San Patricio,

El Día de Muertos es una de esas tradiciones que tocan el alma. Nos invita a recordar con cariño a quienes amamos, a celebrar sus vidas y a mantenerlos presentes a través de la memoria. Es una costumbre profundamente mexicana que nos enseña a mirar la ausencia con amor, y no con tristeza.

Este año, en San Patricio International School Campus Cumbres, nuestro altar estuvo dedicado a las mascotas que ya partieron, esos fieles compañeros que llenaron nuestros días de alegría, juego y amor incondicional. Honrarlos fue una forma de agradecerles por todo lo que nos dieron: por las risas, por las travesuras y por habernos enseñado tanto sobre el cariño y la lealtad.

Durante la jornada, los alumnos compartieron recuerdos y fotografías de sus mascotas, creando un ambiente lleno de ternura y empatía. Hubo quienes hablaron con orgullo de sus perros y gatos, y otros que recordaron con una sonrisa a hámsters, conejos o aves que dejaron una huella imborrable en sus familias.

Por su parte, los alumnos de preparatoria realizaron su propio altar, dedicado a sus seres queridos que ya partieron. Cada fotografía colocada representó una historia, un lazo y una manera especial de mantener viva la memoria de quienes han sido parte importante de sus vidas.

En San Patricio International School, creemos que el amor y la conexión no terminan con la despedida. A través de estas tradiciones, enseñamos a nuestros alumnos el valor de la memoria, el respeto por todos los seres vivos y la importancia de agradecer cada momento compartido.

언제나 마음 속에

사랑하는 San Patricio 가족 여러분,

멕시코의 망자의 날(Día de Muertos) 은 마음 깊이 울림을 주는 전통입니다. 이 날은 우리가 사랑하는 이들을 따뜻하게 기억하고, 그들의 삶을 기리며, 추억을 통해 여전히 곁에 있음을 느끼게 합니다. 슬픔이 아닌 사랑으로 그리움을 바라보게 해주는 아름다운 멕시코의 문화입니다.

올해 San Patricio International School Campus Cumbres에서는 우리의 사랑스러운 반려동물들을 기리는 제단을 마련했습니다. 그들은 언제나 곁에서 기쁨과 웃음을 주고, 변함없는 사랑으로 우리를 위로해 준 소중한 존재들이었습니다. 이번 헌정은 그들에게 전하는 감사의 표현이었습니다 — 함께한 웃음, 장난, 그리고 사랑과 충성심에 대한 소중한 배움을 되새기며 말입니다.

행사 중, 학생들은 자신의 반려동물 사진과 추억을 나누며 따뜻하고 감동적인 분위기를 만들었습니다. 개나 고양이를 떠올리는 학생도 있었고, 햄스터나 토끼, 새 등 작지만 큰 사랑을 남긴 친구들을 미소로 기억하는 학생들도 있었습니다.

한편, 고등부 학생들은 자신들의 사랑하는 가족과 친구들을 추모하는 제단을 직접 준비했습니다. 제단에 올려진 한 장 한 장의 사진은 각각의 이야기와 인연, 그리고 사랑하는 이를 기억하는 진심이 담겨 있었습니다.

San Patricio International School은 사랑과 연결이 이별로 끝나지 않는다고 믿습니다. 이러한 전통을 통해 학생들은 기억의 가치, 모든 생명에 대한 존중, 그리고 함께한 순간에 감사하는 마음을 배워갑니다.
