A Week to Read, Imagine, and Discover

Dear San Patricio Community,

This week, our school is celebrating Literacy Week, a time dedicated to bringing students closer to books and stories in meaningful ways. Through different activities, we aim to help students experience reading as something engaging and enjoyable, beyond academics. Reading opens the door to imagination, strengthens thinking skills, and allows students to explore new ideas and worlds.

As part of this week, we will be hosting our Book Fair on February 3rd and 4th, offering students the opportunity to explore new stories, discover different genres, and find books that spark their interest in reading. Choosing a book and making it their own also helps nurture independence and a love for learning.

Additionally, on Friday, February 6th, we will celebrate World Read Aloud Day with our preschool and elementary students. On this special day, we will welcome guests who will read stories to our students, and children are invited to come dressed as their favorite book character, making the experience even more fun and memorable.

Reading is a fundamental habit that supports language development, concentration, empathy, and creativity. It encourages imagination, expands vocabulary, and helps children better understand their own emotions and those of others. When students read for pleasure, they develop skills that will stay with them throughout their lives.

Families play a key role in nurturing this habit at home. Reading together, talking about stories, or simply letting children see adults enjoy reading sends a powerful message: reading is part of everyday life. Una semana para leer, imaginar y descubrir

Querida comunidad San Patricio:

Esta semana, en nuestro colegio estamos llevando a cabo la Semana de la Lectura, un espacio dedicado a acercar a nuestros alumnos al gusto por los libros y las historias. A través de distintas actividades, buscamos que la lectura se viva como algo cercano y significativo, más allá de lo académico. Leer abre la puerta a la imaginación, fortalece el pensamiento y permite a los estudiantes descubrir nuevas ideas y mundos.

Como parte de esta semana, tendremos nuestra Feria del Libro los días 3 y 4 de febrero, una oportunidad para que nuestros estudiantes se acerquen a nuevas historias, exploren distintos géneros y encuentren ese libro que despierte aún más su interés por la lectura. Elegir un libro, hojearlo y hacerlo propio también fortalece su autonomía y su gusto por aprender.

Además, el viernes 6 de febrero celebraremos el Día de la Lectura en Voz Alta con nuestros alumnos de preescolar y primaria. En esta fecha especial, recibiremos invitados que compartirán la lectura de distintos libros con los niños, y ellos podrán asistir disfrazados de su personaje favorito, haciendo de este día una experiencia aún más divertida y memorable.

La lectura es un hábito fundamental que contribuye al desarrollo del lenguaje, la concentración, la empatía y la creatividad. Leer estimula la imaginación, amplía el vocabulario y ayuda a los niños a comprender mejor sus emociones y las de los demás. Cuando los alumnos leen por gusto, desarrollan habilidades que los acompañarán a lo largo de toda su vida.

Desde casa, el acompañamiento de las familias es clave. Leer juntos, conversar sobre historias o simplemente ver a los adultos leer por placer envía un mensaje poderoso: la lectura forma parte de la vida cotidiana. 이번 주 우리 학교에서는 **독서 주간(Literacy Week)**을 맞아 학생들이 책과 이야기에 더욱 가까이 다가갈 수 있는 시간을 보내고 있습니다. 다양한 활동을 통해 독서가 학업을 넘어 즐겁고 의미 있는 경험이 되도록 하고자 합니다. 독서는 상상력을 키우고 사고력을 강화하며, 새로운 아이디어와 세상을 탐험할 수 있게 합니다.

이 주간의 일환으로 2월 3일과 4일, **도서전(Book Fair)**이 열립니다. 학생들은 다양한 장르의 책을 살펴보고, 자신에게 맞는 이야기를 발견하며 독서에 대한 흥미를 더욱 키울 수 있는 기회를 갖게 됩니다. 책을 직접 고르고 소유하는 경험은 자율성과 배움에 대한 즐거움을 키워 줍니다.

또한 2월 6일 금요일, 유치원과 초등부 학생들을 대상으로 **세계 책 읽어주기 날(World Read Aloud Day)**을 기념합니다. 이 날에는 초대된 게스트들이 학생들에게 책을 읽어 주며, 아이들은 가장 좋아하는 책 속 캐릭터로 분장하고 참여할 수 있어 더욱 즐겁고 기억에 남는 시간이 될 것입니다.

독서는 언어 능력, 집중력, 공감 능력, 창의력을 키워 주는 중요한 습관입니다. 어휘력을 넓혀 주고, 자신의 감정과 타인의 감정을 이해하는 데도 큰 도움을 줍니다. 아이들이 즐거움으로 책을 읽을 때, 평생 이어질 소중한 능력들이 자연스럽게 길러집니다.

가정에서의 역할 또한 매우 중요합니다. 함께 책을 읽고 이야기를 나누거나, 어른들이 책을 즐기는 모습을 보여 주는 것만으로도 아이들에게 강력한 메시지를 전달할 수 있습니다. 항상 함께해 주시고, 호기심 많은 독자를 키워 주시는 데 협력해 주셔서 감사합니다.
