Building Leaders at Home and School
Dear San Patricio Community,
This month at our school we are focusing on the value of leadership. When we think of leaders, we’re referring to individuals who can inspire, guide, and act responsibly. Leadership isn’t about occupying high positions; rather, it’s about having the skill and sensitivity to positively influence others through everyday actions.
We know our children learn best by example. They notice how we handle tough situations, resolve conflicts, work as a team, and help those around us. It’s precisely in these moments that true leaders are formed: at home and in the classroom.
As parents, we play a crucial role. We can help them by encouraging independence, allowing them to make small decisions, teaching them to listen carefully, and motivating them to become empathetic, responsible, and collaborative individuals. We don’t need to be perfect—far from it—but we should demonstrate that leadership means guiding others with respect, humility, and common sense.
At school, we consistently reinforce these values. We want every student to feel confident expressing their opinion, to learn collaboration, and to recognize that their voice matters. We firmly believe that by shaping leaders with these qualities, we’re not only preparing successful individuals, but also committed, sensitive, and conscientious citizens.

Formando líderes desde casa y el colegio
Querida comunidad San Patricio:
Este mes en nuestro colegio estamos trabajando con el valor del liderazgo. Cuando pensamos en líderes, nos referimos a personas capaces de inspirar, guiar y actuar con responsabilidad. No se trata solamente de ocupar posiciones importantes, sino de tener la habilidad y sensibilidad para influir positivamente en los demás desde las acciones más cotidianas.
Sabemos que nuestros niños aprenden con el ejemplo. Ellos observan cómo manejamos las situaciones difíciles, cómo resolvemos conflictos, cómo trabajamos en equipo y cómo ayudamos a los demás. Y justo ahí es donde empiezan a forjarse los verdaderos líderes: en casa y en el salón de clases.
Como papás, tenemos un papel clave. Podemos ayudarlos fomentando la autonomía, dejándolos tomar pequeñas decisiones, enseñándolos a escuchar a los demás y motivándolos a ser personas empáticas, responsables y colaborativas. No se trata de ser perfectos ni mucho menos, sino de mostrarles que liderar es, sobre todo, guiar con respeto, humildad y sentido común.
En el colegio, reforzamos constantemente estos valores. Queremos que cada estudiante se sienta seguro de expresar su opinión, que aprenda a colaborar y que reconozca que su voz importa. Creemos firmemente que, cuando formamos líderes con estas características, no solo estamos formando personas exitosas en el futuro, sino también ciudadanos comprometidos, sensibles y conscientes.

사랑하는 San Patricio 커뮤니티 여러분,
이번 달 우리 학교에서는 ‘리더십’의 가치를 집중적으로 다루고 있습니다. 우리가 생각하는 리더는 다른 사람에게 영감을 주고, 책임 있게 행동하며 올바른 길로 안내할 수 있는 사람을 의미합니다. 리더가 되는 것은 중요한 직책을 맡는 것에 그치는 게 아니라, 일상 속 작은 행동들을 통해 주변에 긍정적인 영향을 줄 수 있는 능력과 따뜻한 마음을 갖추는 것을 말합니다.
아이들은 어른들의 모습을 통해 배웁니다. 어려운 상황을 어떻게 대처하는지, 갈등을 어떻게 해결하는지, 어떻게 협력하며 다른 사람을 돕는지를 지켜보며, 바로 이 순간들이 진정한 리더가 성장하는 시간이 됩니다. 이러한 리더십은 가정과 교실에서 가장 먼저 만들어집니다.
부모님은 이 과정에서 중요한 역할을 맡고 계십니다. 자녀가 작은 결정을 스스로 내릴 수 있도록 자율성을 길러주시고, 다른 사람의 말을 경청하는 습관을 가르치며, 공감 능력과 책임감, 협동심을 가진 사람으로 성장할 수 있도록 격려해 주세요. 완벽할 필요는 없습니다. 리더십이란 무엇보다도 존중과 겸손, 그리고 상식을 바탕으로 다른 사람을 안내하는 것임을 아이들에게 보여주시면 됩니다.
우리 학교에서도 이러한 가치들을 꾸준히 강조하고 있습니다. 학생 한 명 한 명이 자신감을 가지고 의견을 표현하며, 협력하는 법을 배우고, 자신들의 목소리가 중요하다는 것을 깨닫기를 바랍니다. 우리는 이렇게 리더십을 갖춘 아이들을 키우는 것이 단지 미래의 성공적인 개인을 만드는 것이 아니라, 책임감 있고 따뜻한 마음을 가진 시민을 양성하는 것이라 굳게 믿습니다.
