Family Is The First Place of Love and Learning

Dear San Patricio Community,

This past Sunday was Family Day, a special occasion to celebrate love and cherish meaningful moments with those we care about the most. Family is our first circle of love and learning—the place where we find support, learn to share, and feel safe to be ourselves.

Today, we recognize that there is no single definition of family. Some families are large, while others are small. Some have both parents, while others have a single parent. There are families where grandparents take on the role of caregivers, or where uncles, aunts, or siblings step in to support one another. Each family is unique and special, and what truly matters is not its structure but the love, communication, and respect that hold it together.

As a school, we play a vital role in helping our students understand that family diversity is a reality that enriches our society. Teaching them from an early age that every family is valuable—regardless of its composition—encourages empathy and respect for others. When children grow up in an environment where all types of families and individuals are accepted, they become adults who build stronger, more united communities.

Let’s take this opportunity to remember that what truly matters in a family is being present, listening, supporting, and creating moments that strengthen our bonds. Whether it’s gathering around the dinner table, going on a weekend outing, or sharing a bedtime conversation, the love and time we give to our children are what they will cherish the most.

Let’s continue working together to build a community where respect and love for family remain core values that define us.

La familia es el primer espacio de amor y aprendizaje

Estimada comunidad San Patricio,

El pasado domingo fue el Día de la Familia, una ocasión para celebrar el amor y los momentos especiales con quienes amamos. La familia es nuestro primer círculo de amor y aprendizaje, el lugar donde encontramos apoyo, donde aprendemos a compartir y donde nos sentimos seguros para ser nosotros mismos.

Hoy en día, sabemos que no hay un solo tipo de familia. Existen familias grandes y otras más pequeñas; familias con mamá y papá, con solo uno de ellos, con abuelos que cuidan a sus nietos, con tíos o con hermanos que hacen equipo en la vida. Cada familia es única y especial, y lo más importante no es cómo está formada, sino el amor, la comunicación y el respeto que la sostienen.

Como colegio, nos toca ayudar a nuestros estudiantes a entender que la diversidad de familias es una realidad que enriquece nuestra sociedad. Enseñarles desde pequeños que cada familia es valiosa, independientemente de su estructura, fomenta en ellos la empatía y el respeto hacia los demás. Cuando los niños crecen en un ambiente donde se acepta a todo tipo de familias e individuos, se convierten en adultos que construyen comunidades más fuertes y unidas.

Aprovechemos este día para recordar que lo más importante en una familia es estar presentes, escuchar, apoyar y compartir momentos que fortalezcan los lazos. No importa si es en la mesa a la hora de la comida, en un paseo el fin de semana o en una charla antes de dormir, lo que realmente queda en el corazón de los niños es el tiempo y el amor que les brindamos.

Sigamos construyendo juntos una comunidad donde el respeto y el amor por la familia sean valores que nos definan.

가족: 사랑과 배움이 시작되는 곳

사랑하는 San Patricio 커뮤니티 여러분,

지난 일요일은 가족의 날이었습니다. 사랑하는 사람들과 함께 특별한 순간을 기념하고 소중한 시간을 보내는 뜻깊은 날이었죠. 가족은 우리가 처음으로 사랑과 배움을 경험하는 공간이며, 서로를 응원하고, 나누는 법을 배우며, 있는 그대로의 자신을 안전하게 느낄 수 있는 곳입니다.

오늘날, 가족의 형태는 다양합니다. 어떤 가족은 대가족이고, 어떤 가족은 소가족일 수도 있습니다. 부모님이 함께하는 가족도 있고, 한 분의 부모님과 함께하는 가족도 있습니다. 때로는 조부모님이 손주들을 돌보거나, 삼촌과 이모, 형제자매가 서로를 도와가며 가족을 이루기도 합니다. 가족의 형태보다 중요한 것은 그 안에 담긴 사랑, 소통, 그리고 존중입니다.

학교에서도 학생들이 다양한 가족의 형태를 자연스럽게 이해하고, 이를 통해 사회가 더욱 풍요로워질 수 있음을 배울 수 있도록 돕고 있습니다. 어릴 때부터 모든 가족은 소중하고, 서로 다름을 존중해야 한다는 가치를 배우는 것은 공감 능력을 기르고 타인을 존중하는 마음을 키우는 데 큰 도움이 됩니다. 아이들은 다양한 가족과 개인을 자연스럽게 받아들이는 환경에서 성장할 때, 더 강하고 조화로운 공동체를 만들어가는 어른으로 성장하게 됩니다.

이 기회를 통해 가족의 진정한 의미를 다시 한번 생각해 보면 좋겠습니다. 가장 중요한 것은 함께 시간을 보내고, 이야기를 나누며, 서로를 지지하는 것입니다. 식탁에서의 대화, 주말 나들이, 잠들기 전 따뜻한 대화—이 모든 순간들이 아이들의 마음속에 오래 남는 소중한 추억이 될 것입니다.

우리 모두가 함께, 가족에 대한 사랑과 존중이 중심이 되는 공동체를 만들어 나갑시다.
