Taking a Moment to Reflect
Dear San Patricio Community,
Sometimes, in the middle of the fast rhythm of school, homework, activities, and everyday life, we forget something simple but incredibly valuable: pausing to reflect. This month, we’re focusing on helping our students build this habit that supports conscious and meaningful growth.
Reflection isn’t just about thinking of what went well or what didn’t. It’s a personal space where each child can recognize their progress, understand why something was challenging, or imagine what they might want to try differently next time. And we see it every day—when a student says, “I think I can improve this,” or when another realizes that a small change made them feel more confident.
Just a few days ago, during our Student-Led Conferences, this value was clearly alive. Watching our students present their portfolios, explain their learning, and share their challenges with honesty and pride was truly inspiring. Many families told us how meaningful it was to hear their children express, in their own words, what they are learning about themselves.
At San Patricio International School, we want our students to truly get to know themselves, to value their own process, and to ask important questions: What did I learn today? What am I proud of? What could I try differently tomorrow? These questions may seem simple, but they open the door to major academic and personal growth.
Families play a fundamental role as well. When we talk with our children about their day—without rushing, without judgment, simply listening—we give them the chance to organize their thoughts, express their emotions, and understand themselves better. Sometimes all it takes is asking: “What was the most interesting part of your day?” or “What did you learn from something that didn’t go as expected?”
Reflection isn’t about perfection; it’s about awareness. And when our students are able to understand themselves, they make better decisions, build healthier relationships, and face new challenges with confidence.
Thank you for always walking beside us in this journey. Every conversation, every moment of listening, and every bit of calm you offer at home makes a tremendous difference in their development.

Tomarnos un momento para reflexionar
Querida comunidad San Patricio:
A veces, en medio del ritmo tan acelerado de la escuela, las tareas, las actividades y la vida diaria, olvidamos algo muy sencillo pero muy valioso: pausar y reflexionar. Este mes, en nuestro colegio, estamos poniendo especial atención a ese hábito que ayuda tanto a nuestros alumnos a crecer de forma más consciente.
La reflexión no es solamente pensar en lo que hicimos bien o mal. Es un espacio personal donde cada niño puede reconocer sus avances, entender por qué algo le costó trabajo, o descubrir qué le gustaría intentar de una manera distinta la próxima vez. Y lo vemos todos los días: cuando un alumno dice “creo que puedo mejorar esto”, o cuando otro se da cuenta de que un pequeño cambio le hizo sentir más seguro.
Hace unos días tuvimos nuestras Student-Led Conferences, y este valor se hizo evidente en cada una. Ver a nuestros alumnos presentar sus portafolios, explicar sus aprendizajes y compartir sus retos con honestidad y orgullo fue una muestra clara de que la reflexión sí se puede enseñar… y también se puede disfrutar. Muchos padres nos comentaron lo especial que fue escucharlos y descubrir cómo ellos mismos identifican sus fortalezas y áreas de crecimiento.
En San Patricio International School, queremos que nuestros estudiantes aprendan a conocerse mejor, a valorar su proceso y a hacerse preguntas importantes: ¿Qué aprendí hoy? ¿De qué me siento orgulloso? ¿Qué puedo intentar de otra manera mañana? Son preguntas simples, pero abren puertas enormes para su desarrollo académico y personal.
Las familias también juegan un papel fundamental. Cuando en casa conversamos con ellos sobre su día —sin prisa, sin juicio, simplemente escuchando— les damos la oportunidad de ordenar sus ideas, expresar emociones y entenderse mejor. A veces basta con preguntar: “¿Qué fue lo más interesante de tu día?” o “¿Qué aprendiste de lo que no salió como esperabas?”
La reflexión no busca perfección, busca conciencia. Y cuando nuestros alumnos se conocen a sí mismos, toman mejores decisiones, construyen relaciones más sanas y enfrentan los retos con mayor seguridad.
Gracias por acompañarnos siempre en este camino de formación. Cada conversación en casa, cada momento de escucha y cada espacio de calma suma muchísimo en su crecimiento.

잠시 멈추고 되돌아보는 시간
사랑하는 San Patricio 가족 여러분,
학교 생활, 숙제, 활동, 그리고 일상 속에서 빠르게 지내다 보면, 우리가 종종 잊게 되는 아주 소중한 것이 있습니다. 바로 잠시 멈추어 생각하는 것, 즉 ‘성찰’입니다. 이번 달 우리 학교에서는 학생들이 더 깊이 성장할 수 있도록 이 습관을 특별히 강조하고 있습니다.
성찰은 단순히 잘한 점과 아쉬운 점을 되짚는 것이 아닙니다. 각자가 자신의 발전을 인식하고, 어려웠던 이유를 이해하고, 다음에는 어떻게 다르게 해볼지 스스로 고민하는 개인적인 시간입니다. 우리는 매일 이 모습을 직접 봅니다. “여기는 더 잘할 수 있을 것 같아요”라고 말하는 학생들, 작은 변화 하나로 자신감이 생겼다고 스스로 깨닫는 학생들 말이죠.
며칠 전 진행된 Student-Led Conferences에서는 이 가치가 더욱 뚜렷하게 드러났습니다. 학생들이 자신의 포트폴리오를 소개하며 배운 점과 도전 과정을 솔직하고 자랑스럽게 설명하는 모습은 정말 감동적이었습니다. 여러 학부모님들께서도 아이들이 스스로의 성장을 직접 이야기하는 것을 들으며 큰 의미를 느끼셨다고 말씀해 주셨습니다.
San Patricio International School에서는 학생들이 스스로를 이해하고, 자신의 과정을 소중히 여기며, 중요한 질문을 던질 수 있도록 돕고 있습니다.
오늘 무엇을 배웠을까? 어떤 점이 가장 자랑스러울까? 내일은 무엇을 다르게 시도해볼까?
이 질문들은 단순해 보이지만, 아이들이 크게 성장하는 열쇠가 됩니다.
가정에서도 학부모님의 역할은 정말 큽니다. 아이들에게 하루를 묻고, 판단 없이 차분히 들어주는 시간만으로도 아이들은 생각을 정리하고 감정을 표현하며 자신을 더 잘 이해하게 됩니다. 때로는 이렇게 물어보는 것으로 충분합니다:
“오늘 가장 흥미로웠던 순간이 뭐였어?”
“기대와 달랐던 일이 있었다면, 거기서 무엇을 배웠니?”
성찰은 완벽함을 위한 과정이 아니라, ‘의식’을 기르는 과정입니다. 아이들이 자신을 이해하게 될 때, 더 좋은 선택을 하고, 더 건강한 관계를 만들며, 새로운 도전을 더 큰 용기로 맞이하게 됩니다.
항상 함께 걸어주시는 학부모님들께 감사드립니다. 집에서 나누는 대화, 경청의 순간, 잔잔한 격려 하나하나가 아이들의 성장에 큰 힘이 됩니다.
